Angela Valela
Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist
Angela is a Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist who has a growing focus on trauma-informed care. She brings deep empathy and cultural sensitivity to her work with her clients.
Angela is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where individuals can explore their experience at their own pace.
She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto in Mental Health Studies and a Master of Education from Ontario Tech University. She is currently completing her Master of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Angela is currently an intern at Northshore East Stress and Trauma Clinic (NEST) in St. Catharines and Burlington.
Angela has extensive experience working with diverse populations including first responders, survivors of violence and tragic circumstances, and neurodivergent individuals. She is committed to fostering an inclusive and safe environment that ensures the appropriate tools and accommodations are provided for success. Throughout Angela’s career, she has worked in frontline and community roles with individuals experiencing grief, loss, and crisis, where she has developed resiliency, a strong understanding of the mind-body connection, and the impact of tragic circumstances on frontline emergency services workers.
With deep experience in Victim Services and Community Mental Health Case Management, Angela integrates trauma-informed practice to meet clients with respect and recognition of the strength it takes to seek support. She walks alongside her clients as they process their experiences, build resilience, and move towards healing and renewed wellbeing.
Outside of her work, Angela enjoys quality time with her dog Louie, being in nature, and baking decadent treats.
